We had a robust debate in three way chat about the last post, but I unfortunately can't paste it at this time (talkgadget doesn't have copy paste FTL). Anyways, trying to do my essay for my purpose of studying Japanese for the school application.

  1. In a post some while ago, I wrote about utsukushii(keiyoushi) and
kirei(keiyoudoushi). The former has declensions but the other doesn't and the formal form (I think) is kirei-da ou -desu. But I didn't think about -da changing into kirei-na.

The keiyoudoushi is a tricky thing for Japanese as well. The less educated sometimes say keirei-ku nai.
I only learned ancient Japanese grammar and your discussion learns me a lot. Thanks.
