Japan's constant struggle to make me sick

The country is a living entity with the goal of getting me somehow, be it tsunami, germ-riddled children with cute faces, or dreaded sakura petal attacks.
But really, I never really had allergies before I came here. Then my nose discovered the joy of the Japanese cedar.
I thought this year I was being ignored by this malevolent entity for once, but the allergies finally came. I took a couple Benadryl. Then the next day I took a couple more. Now that stuff has built up in my system and I am effectively drugged. In every sense of the word. I am forgetful. I sleepy. I am forgetful. And making bad judgements and reasonings. I even thought Japan was out to get me a few minutes ago.
I would write more but I am tired, and I forgot what this post was in the beginning. I am too tired to raise my eyes up to see. Gee that keyboard looks soft.

  1. When I read the title of your post, I thought it was going to be a controversial Japan-hate post. Speaking of which, I can't believe no one's asked you if it's easy to live in Japan. When you said that, I actually thought maybe I was just thinking of one or two instances and reflecting it as a trend, but I've been asked it twice in the past three weeks now. Today someone actually asked me, between Japan and America, which is easier to live in.

  3. There's a yellow weed that grows all around this area apparently called something like "segatakaawadachiso," which I am told was brought into the country by the Americans. Most of my Japanese co-workers are immune to its horrible powers of making my face want to explode.

I am yet to experience the allergic powers of the Japanese cedar. I will be on guard.

I think there is a Vorax on my ceiling or maybe just a LOL cat:) Kyo, ganbatte!

  4. I feel sorry for you, brother!

I know exactly how you feel. All of a sudden, your body does a weird adaptation to the drug you're taking, and your mind tries to cope - then, you no longer get good, proper sleep, and you then succumb to the paranoid delusions and panic attacks.

I used to experience the same thing - but I live in Los Angeles. In L.A., we have no humidity, so we have dust problems, congealing with the stifling Smog - and then the spring time hits and the desert flowers let loose. This year, we had some good rains interspersed just at the right tempo with good winds, so we have more flowers sprouting all over the place. It is almost unbearable for some people - and can you imagine - millions of people with allergy problems, drugged out, driving to and fro work everyday like that?

So I take NASONEX and ALLEGRA. Both are non-drowsy, and are absolute miracles. If you can get these meds for cheap with your insurance (if you have it), I will swear my own life on these drugs - they will stop the allergies in its tracks. Until these meds I could not function at all, and had exactly the same problems as you are experiencing right now.
These meds are un-believable. I feel 110% normal, can function as if I didn't know what allergies were coming through my nose.

Go see your Doctor immediately and ask for them.

Cos you know I thought the entire US Government and Secret Agents were watching my every move until I got fixed up to feeling normal.

Sorry I have no ID, nor a site, so I have to sign off with an Anonymous name, but please trust me, what I say here is for real.

Good luck, and I really do hope you feel better.

    LM

  5. I feel for you. I've never suffered from allergies here in Japan, but my eyes water every time I see someone in agony brought on by the cedars. I read somewhere that a lot of cedars were planted for harvesting and paper producing purposes, but have been widely untouched.
